buildings in auckland

douglas & bec three lamps2douglas & bec three lamps2 (1)

I’m on holiday! So more blog posts and a lot more fun and city exploring.

I live in Auckland and I spend a lot of time walking around central Auckland where the heritage buildings are amazing. Above are my favourite buildings that I have snapped on these adventures, that are always better with friends.

I love the colours, materials and stories behind buildings. If you are a building lover like myself, here is my guide to the buildings in Auckland.

  • For a mix of old and new, Britomart. Full of heritage buildings mixed with modern architecture. Filled with fairy lights and plants too. It has an awesome vibe.
  • For shops in cute buildings, Jervois Road and three lamps. Father Rabbit, Simon James Concept Store, Tessuti and Douglas and Bec are a few of my favourite shops that live in gorgeous heritage buildings.
  • For something a little different and some hidden jems, Vulcan Lane, O’Connell Street and all the other Queen Street side streets. There is a mix of cute and not so cute around Queen street but I think the side street buildings are lovely.
  • For some suburban cuteness, look no further than the long black heritage building that muck floral, jetsetbohemian, black box boutique and uno design reside in. It’s my favourite building. I even painted it for art.

Other places that deserve a mention are; Ponsonby Road,  The Viaduct, Auckland Museum and Art Gallery,  Three Lamps, Takapuna, the Mt Eden Market, New Market, and Orakei Basin Food Market.

I hope you enjoyed! If you have any more locations you love please let me know so I can visit them!

my new mood board & update

WALLIO1

hello again! long time no chit-chat aye!

I’m gonna start with a little update on the things I’ve been loving as of late! I have been so busy with school like everyone else in my age group so I can’t wait for them holidays!

R E A D I N G

The Tomorrow series by John Marsden. I’m on the sixth one which says that I am thoroughly enjoying this series. If you live in Ozzie or Kiwi land you will have a pretty good idea of the books I’m talking about!

L I S T E N I N G

I am loving the Rookie Podcast right now, it’s so good and so damn inspiring. Song wise I’m digging; the guardians of the galaxy soundtracks, Heard ‘Em say by Mr. Kanye West, Finesse (Hey Baby) by Flamingosis, Cool by Zac Villere, The Cool Kids by BVGER and Nana by Polo & pan. My Spotify is frankie..b so Y’all can see what I’m listening to!

 W A T C H I N G

Buzzfeed Unsolved… I’ve watched every single episode of all three series and of course the post-mortems.  I am very interested in crime and supernatural stories and if you are too give it a watch, it’s on YouTube!

WALLIO3

This monstrosity of an Inspiration wall was what I spent a good 75% of my weekend making. I went through about 20 BuzzFeed Unsolved episodes while cutting all these out. This is above my desk and is jammed packed with my favorite images from Tumblr and Pinterest.

I am really into plants, shadows, pinks, yellows, and organic looking things. I like to incorporate quotes, images, and illustrations. If I could insert Publisher files I totally would so you could pick the ones that you love and stick them all over your walls. I’ll work on it!

The things I loved in the Holidays.

sunday swooning1Hello, lovelies!

Happy Friday (for some of you)! Week one of Term two over and to be honest I have found it very tricky to get back into the swing of things.  For some unknown reason I haven’t been sleeping very well, I have only been getting about 5 hours each night. So school has well and truly taken a hold of me but I thought I would share and reminisce on the things I loved during the holidays!

01. SHOPPING

As it was my birthday in April (there’s a post on that) I had some birthday spending money! I loved walking around the shops with my mum, brother, and friends without a time frame. I got some gorgeous clothes and knickknacks that I will share with yall soonish!

02. CITY EXPLORING

Auckland is a pretty big place and I think there is nothing better than being a tourist in your own city. I walked down Queens street,  Walked around Wynyard Quarter and checked out the World Masters games entertainment hub on Queen’s wharf, I went to Devonport, shopped at Britomart.  I had a fabulous time!

03. EATING

As I had more time in my day I put a little bit more time in the food I made and ate and also cooked some pretty good dinners. Eating out was pretty damn good too! 😉

04. ROOM RE-ARRANGING

As you may know, I change my room around and update my mood boards almost every week! I had a blast with all my free time having a major sort out of everything and making my room look beautiful and cosy for Autumn! Tell me if you want to see!

05. CRAFT

I spent day’s chopping things out of magazines, I made my very first wall hanging, I did some sewing. It was really nice to have the time to do some crafty things. It sounds awful but I hadn’t for a long time.

06. READING

ahh, I read books, magazines, design books, blog posts, articles, newspapers. My heads a hive of information.

Fashion Things I Love & A Little Update

Hello, lovelies!

I am on school holidays! woo hoo! hopefully, that means some new content on this thing! I am totally going to enjoy this two-week break! I thought to go along with this post I will update you a little on me.

Watching: I have just finished 13 reasons why, and jeepers it’s good. It made me feel a lot of feelings.

reading: one flew over the cuckoo’s nest, I am enjoying this book but it has been a lttle hard to get into and understand, according to my english teacher is a year 12 book so that could explain it. I have also just finished Will Grayson, Will Grayson which was a nice light yet deep and humorous read.

Eating: easter eggs, obvs happy easter guys. And homemade fejoa sorbet with home grown fejoas.

Doing: tidying up and rearraging my room and listening to great tunes while doing so.

That’s all, for now, enjoy the fashiony stuff!

3. read morearticles, interviews, blog posts, books, fill the little head with info.

I spend quite a lot of time on Pinterest which means i have found so many fashion trends/ items that I adore. What you have just had a look at are my current favs!

*The straight along singlet*

Ok, so I know that this is probably not the correct term for this singlet style but it makes logical scense. I have pinned so many variations of this style and I love the different ways they can be made and worn.

*The cane bag*

I have a little cane obbsession going on at the moment, I got a cane peacock chair from my grandad which is gorgeous, it casts beautiful shadows and is perfect for reading in. He also gave me a cane basket that is the coolest shape. As you can tell this new cane bag trend floats my cane boat.

*Mules*

Ahhh, velvet, suede, leather, emballshments, bright colours, there are so many amazing pairs of mules. I’m not into heels yet, though they would make me taller, but i know my first pair will most deffinitaly be a very cool pair of, not too tall, mules.

*Head scarfs and neck ties*

I love all the gorgeous patterns and prints of scars and bandannas and I have had a lot of fun tying my collection on bag straps, around my neck and in my hair. I might share a little neck tie outfit soon if y’all are interested. but yes, I am quite liking this look.

Of corse, there are more things I am loving and to keep up with the never ending fasion loves go check out my pinterest or leave your username in the comments and I will follow you!

what’s going on?

hello lovelies!

thought i would update you on what i’m doing/ what’s going on in my life right now!

let’s just get started!

sooo..

this week is the last of term 3, which means the holiday’s are so close. i am going on a beach holiday at whangamata so brace yourselves for a mass of beachy photos. i am also going to wellington for the world of wearable art’s so there will be a blog post on that too! for me school is something i enjoy but i prefer staying at home. i am a homebody and school is just a mass of rushing people and assessments so this 2 weeks off is going to be bliss! although i do have holiday homework – damn!

also be prepared for a spam of craftyness!

what am i doing?

what’s floating my boat?

well … those are easy questions!

my mumma (hello mum xx) pulled out her old electric typewriter and i have to say i freaked out a little bit at it’s clunky electronicness (that’s not a word)! it’s superb! i have been typing out a lil journal where i just type out a lil bit of each day to look back on!

here’s an example of what might go on my page a day:

tw

i have also been typing out some recipes that i have created/ adapted so i can look back on my own versions! as i have an egg allergy i changed a pikelet recipe to be egg free and it worked! here they are: tell me if you want the recipe!

rp

i have been looking super cool recently (not), i jumped on board the mom jean train and i am never getting off – bye skinny jeans you ain’t comfy enough! i have been tucking my top in them which looks kinda cool/ super weird depends what you think!

mj

also i have quite a collection of patches now thanks to $2 set’s from rubi shoes! i love a good bargain – but who doesn’t!

rbp

i think that’s all i wanted to say ..

not quite sure but anyway! i will be back soon with a september playlist for you all!

xx frankie!

lately …

hello all! hope you like the changes to the blog! thought a little update was needed!

currently my style is changing. i have gone from bright colour freak and am trying to modernise my room and make it more calming, clutter-less and more 14-year-old like!

i am planning to do a room tour once this has been done! i have been super busy with school so my room has been neglected 😦 there is clutter, half-finished craft projects and physical education (pe) bags the list goes on …

i thought as my style is forever changing i would document it. it will become a little series i think! monthly would be lovely!

so here’s to september!

1b895ab00702106a02cc37100ec9e2f8

a0f971d0c6c233b67bb44276893653db
